NEWS

2012 was a very active year with the launch of the new version of the RIdIM database. 2013 begins as busily with the publication of the series Studies in Music, Dance and Theatre Iconography (general editor: Antonio Baldassarre). The first volume of this series will present a study on the vanitas and still-life paintings of the Dutch-born artist Edwaert Collier by Debra Pring.

A new version of the RIdIM Newsletter will be available online from 1 July so please access it via this website. For libraries and individuals who would still prefer to receive a paper copy, please contact Debra Pring at association@ridim.org and one can be sent to you.

Planning work continues toward the next international RIdIM Conference to be held in Istanbul, 5 – 7 June 2013. The Call for Papers has now closed. Please check the dedicated conference website at http://ridim.istanbul-2013.donjuanarchiv.at for up-to-date information.

We were greatly saddened by the news that Walter Salmen died on 2 February at the age of 86. In 2012 Dr. Salmen graciously accepted honorary lifetime membership of Association RIdIM. The work that we undertake as an Association has been made richer and more academically rigorous due to his participation in RIdIM and on the wider stage of scholarship. Our thoughts are with his family and his many friends.
